tailored to YOU Making drinks that are

Look how far we’ve come! From serving only brewed coffee to a full service espresso cart, your support is helping us grow. We will continue to listen and add the most requested items!

We continue to add new syrups and have had a great time making customer requested drinks. We do our best to keep our online menu updated, but please make sure to check the inhouse menu for any possible additions.

The stories behind the Names

  • The “True” London Fog put us on the map during our infancy. The customer who requested this beverage was working hard to make her dreams come true. When we learned her last name is True, it seemed a little too serendipitous not to name this drink after her. She was striving to attain her goals, and helping us reach ours. The “True” London Fog was the first drink named after a customer. After seeing the joy it brought her, we decided to make this a lasting legacy. It’s true: being acknowledged for your support means a great deal.

    THANK YOU!

  • While still in its planning phase, Sydney offered that a coffee shop without oat milk and lavender will not go far. Having been in coffee a decade ago, we were still planning on carrying only soy and almond milk alternatives. Thanks to Sydney, we have perfected our oat milk game. We not only steam wonderfully foamy froth, but we have also perfected the oat milk cold cream!

  • We had received numerous requests for white mocha, but couldn’t find a syrup that we really enjoyed. Millie was visiting during Thanksgiving and was disappointed to be without her favorite flavored concoction. We decided to give her a reason to remember Oak Ridge and got busy making a white mocha we could be proud to serve. Thanks to Millie, our white mocha cream has become our most popular ingredient!

  • Many of our customers prefer sugar free options. Tony and Ms. Adkins are two of our most loyal customers and both wanted something delicious sans the sugar. Not to disappoint, we got busy making a drink that perfectly reflected their personalities: unassuming but fabulous!

  • Although this beverage sounds like a cup of sweetness, it does have a perfect coffee to sugar balance. Melissa, a server at Deans Restaurant, wanted an iced caramel drink with a strong coffee kick. If you get the joy of having this kind (and sassy) server, make sure to thank her for pushing us to make better iced drinks!

  • Emily is a wonderful young woman who knows what she likes. When she tried one of our specials (Rob’s Peanut Butter Cup), she was hooked. Since the peanut butter is homemade, it was not intended to stay on the menu. However, try as we may, we could not make another drink that satisfied Emily to the same degree. To thank her for her dedication to our shop, we decided to make her drink a constant on our menu!

(If you want the true “Emily Experience,” try it iced with oat milk. The peanut butter chunks are the best part).

  • During a marketing research trip, we stumbled across the rosemary latte. Unexpectedly good, we were excited to order our first bottle of Monin Rosemary, only to find that no one in the syrup market bottles this flavor. Although we enjoy making our whipped creams, we don’t have much interest in simple syrups. When Kris, with Wild Weed Organics, came along and offered to make a syrup, we were elated. It only took two tries and this delicious cold foam beverage quickly became a top seller!

  • We receive many requests for dairy-free drinks. Abby came into the shop and said a little dairy was ok (she wanted the white mocha). Her first version of the drink was topped with our dairy-free cold foam. We got to thinking about it and realized that if we can make a good cold foam, why not try whipped cream? At her next visit, Abby was treated to dairy free lavender whipped cream and the smile on her face showed it was a great decision!

  • This decadent, sweet drink was inspired by one of our vendors, Whitteny. Like the namesake, this drink is sweet!

  • Chai Ali (pronounced Alley) was created when one of our more dedicated customers requested a version of a highly popular chain drink. She wanted something SUPER sweet, made with chai and caramel. We definitely added the Calamity love to our drink and think it turned out scrumptious!

  • Queen Butter is...a cat. Why do we have a drink dedicated to animals on our menu? Sky, Queen Butters mom, wanted to make a donation to the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter for every drink sold, and thought using a pet's name would help showcase this endeavor. We loved the idea and created a section for some of our most memorable pets.

  • This drink was originally going to be known as "Hazel's (non-alcoholic) Margarita," but when the idea of making donations to the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter came to fruition, we knew one of her concoctions had to be in the "Charitable Contributions" section. Flora, one of our customer's spicy beagles, was adopted from the shelter and it seemed only fitting that she have a drink named after her.

  • Mushka's person is seriously dedicated to the health and well-being of animals. We knew one of her fluffy pups had to be on the menu! If you come in often, you will likely meet Mushka but know that she is far more interested in pup cups and her mom than in meeting strangers. She's pretty aloof when it comes to those she doesn't know; it'll be hard not to try and meet her, but don't take it personally if she ignores you.

Our Initial Menu

Calamity’s began as a small, extremely part-time gig. We opened on Saturdays at 201 Cafe & Wine Bar. We took that time to listen to customer’s needs and are grateful for all the support!
